It is impossible to imagine Switzerland’s landscape without any other animal than the cow. One could argue that no other animal has such an impact on the landscape, maybe not directly, but indirectly. There is a close connection between the territory and the relationship between man and cow. But there is by no means a balanced relationship, rather man enriches himself with everything the cow has to offer, even if at the expense of animal welfare and the environment. In the last decade, this development was taken to an extreme and the limits still seem far away. Man can make everything his own and what doesn’t fit will be made to fit. But when technology is no longer the answer to everything. How would the Swiss landscape look like then and which role plays the cow in it?
