Farmland has constantly decreased in the city of Zurich. Yet there are initiatives from the government and the citizens to preserve and promote the agricultural production within the city edge.

Increasing land sealing leads to higher temperatures in urban areas, which become a health risk for the population. Climate change also affects agricultural production through increased temperatures and changes in rainfall patterns. At the same time, agricultural green spaces can play an important role in cooling cities.

A set of typologies make up a rich social fabric of farm organization in the city of Zurich. Four different types differ due to the internal organization of work and techniques, as well as the forms of articulation between farms configuring a singular network of food production.
