The expansion of Zurich’s footprint has historically put pressure on the surrounding arable areas. Although valuable green spaces are protected by law and considered unchangeable, the peripheral areas of the city are in tension with the demand for housing and construction. How to deal simultaneously with such pressures, with the transformation of the farm structure, and with the climate change threats of food production?
